Event Details

Demonstration: Saturday, September 19
Tool Sale: Sunday 9/20

Morris home: 195 W Ft McDowell Pl, Camp Verde

Demonstrator: Sarah Harms

The Business of Making: Basic Blacksmithing in Limited Production.
Sarah will focus her demo on hammering out multiples of the same element, and creating various pieces with them. As a jeweler, she will be working very small, with ¼ stock being the largest, but smiths can certainly use these techniques with larger stock. While she is hammering, she will yak about her design process, and how she incorporates lots of different designs into a cohesive, cost effective body of work. The afternoon will be a hands on opportunity for smiths to try their hand at forging multiples, soldering non ferrous metals onto steel and working tiny. Expect to go home with 3 to 5 finished pieces and a little bit of wisdom about getting into selling your work.
Saturday night potluck/BBQ will be hosted by Karen Morris. Bring your own meat/fish/veggie burgers to grill and side dishes and drinks to share. Plenty of space is available for tent camping and limited space for dry RV camping.

Tool sale: The tool sale will start at 9am on Sunday. This will be the sale of Bill Morris’ blacksmithing equipment. Bill, a long time AABA member, unfortunately passed away in November 2025. Karen, Bill’s wide, would like to see his tools go to good blacksmithing homes.
