Event Details

Demonstration: Saturday, September 21, 2024

Workshop: Sunday, September 22, 2024

David Herald’s shop
520 N Rio Arriba
Cottonwood, Arizona

Demonstrator: Steve Miller

I will demo a 3-piece forged hook that is riveted together. Using 1/4″ x 1″ flatbar.
The hook and wall brackets are forged using the techniques practiced during the
first 2 weeks of the Forging Focus program last summer at the Center for Metal Arts
in Johnstown, PA. We practiced 2-sided and 4-sided tapers and shoulders, first with
the hand hammer and then on the power hammer. This project draws on those techniques
to forge out this style hook, which is unlike any other hook I’ve ever made.
